We are an information and referral service

Collin County Foundation Guide publishes general information about foundations and foundation repair and connects homeowners with independent foundation repair companies. We are not a foundation repair contractor. We do not perform, supervise, inspect or guarantee any work, and we don't employ anyone who does.

We are not engineers

Nothing on this site is an engineering opinion or a diagnosis of any home. The Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors has said that analyzing the cause of a foundation condition and recommending repairs is the practice of engineering (advisory opinion 43). For a diagnosis or a repair design, hire a Texas-licensed professional engineer who is independent of any repair company. You can verify a license at pels.texas.gov.

How we are paid

Foundation repair companies we refer people to may pay us a fee, either per referral or as a recurring arrangement. You don't pay us anything. Referral fees are how we fund this site and its free guides.

Because we may be paid by the companies we refer you to, a referral or a listing is not an endorsement, certification or guarantee of any company's price, quality or warranty. You are always free to get an independent engineer's opinion and other quotes.

What the foundation repair company is responsible for

The company you're connected with is independent of us and is solely responsible for:

  • The city permit, any city contractor registration, and the engineering the city requires
  • Its insurance, which you should confirm directly with the insurer
  • Its inspections, quotes, repair plans, prices and scheduling
  • The quality and safety of its work, and its written warranty

Texas licensing and city permits

Texas does not license foundation repair contractors. Bills to create a state license died in 2011 and 2013. The cities we cover regulate the work through permits instead: McKinney, Plano, Frisco and Prosper publish requirements for a permit and a Texas-licensed engineer's sealed design, and Allen issues foundation repair permits too. Ask to see the permit.

Warranties

Warranty terms vary by company. Read what is covered (often only adjusting the piers that were installed, in the area they support), whether and how it transfers to a buyer, and what happens if the company is sold or closes. Our checklist for choosing a contractor covers the questions to ask.

Phone calls

When call tracking is active, calls to the number on this site may be routed through a call-tracking provider and connected directly to a participating foundation repair company. We use call tracking to measure which pages help people and to account for referrals. If calls are recorded, you'll hear an announcement at the start of the call.

Not affiliated with any city

We are not affiliated with the Cities of McKinney, Frisco, Allen, Plano or Prosper, Collin or Denton County, or any engineer, pier manufacturer or repair company. Where we mention their rules, we link to the official source.
